I had been watching PDA and I can say that most of the scholars are really talented. I was just kind of disappointed when they started making the votes as the mere basis of who will remain inside the academy. It’s because I think that the idea is not good because it will not be a talent-based contest anymore but just a mere competition of popularity. Come on, we all know that most of these audiences are just voting because it’s either they think the scholar is cute, or pretty, or hot, or whatever. They’re not experts on music that’s why they can’t choose the best and PDA is making a big mistake on putting these scholars’ dreams on the hands of the people who cannot even judge if who is the better singer and performer. I am not a fan of any particular scholar in PDA but I was kind of disappointed when Yvan is eliminated last night. Because I believe that he is a much better singer than some of those who were left. They all have talents but who’s going to be the Grand Winner? Irish, who has the star-quality? Ronnie, who they say is another ‘kilabot ng mga kolehiyala’? Chad, whom the judges say that has the attitude on stage? Jay-r, the one dubbed as “boy next door”? Panky, who’s (according to her) always misunderstood? Or Yeng, who is the superb composer? But whoever wins, we can’t say that he/she won because of the talent that he/she has, but because he/she has enough supporters to vote for him/her and make him/her win. And now, I’m wondering if the purpose of PDA is to discover great talents? Or just to produce a winner by popularity?
