The past few weeks have been hell for our batch; major exam, revalida, concept exams, defense, submission of requirements, and so on. Graduation is fast approaching and the pressure is all over the atmosphere. But due to some circumstances, some of us are not qualified to graduate this April 7 (we are still hoping). It must be an extremely difficult time for them, imagine, you are a month away from graduation then suddenly they will tell you that you can not graduate? It’s like your entire dream would come crashing down in front of you after four long years of hard work. It must be really disappointing and disheartening, if I am in that situation, I do not know what to do. Detrimental events in our lives like this would really have an immense impact in our emotional, physiological and psychological state, the reason why some people are able to commit some slip-ups.
I believe that one vital characteristic of a competent nurse is being non-judgmental; to patients who underwent a detrimental event in their lives like rape victims, abused patients, to psychiatric patients and to who ever patient is in front of you.
It pissed me off to see some people exhibit unsuitable attitudes in times and situations like these. They judged the person without trying to understand the situation. And they dishonored the person’s right to privacy and confidentiality. No empathy and non-therapeutic.
If as early as months before the Board exam, these people act like this, how much more if they are already Registered Nurses? Shame on you people.
